After graduating from the University of Tasmania with Honours in Plant Pathology in 1992, Fiona completed a PhD in anthracnose disease of avocado and mango through the University of Queensland and the CRC for Tropical Plant Protection in 2005. She continued working with the avocado industry at Queensland Department of Primary Industries before moving to Biosecurity Queensland and subsequently working on myrtle rust and later Panama disease of banana. She currently works for the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries Queensland in a range of projects focussed on management of diseases of horticultural crops.
