From a young age Matthew has been driven by a sense of curiosity and awe that comes with experiencing the natural world. A strong desire to understand and conserve Australia’s unique ecosystems lead him to complete a BSc majoring in Ecology and Zoology at UQ in 2019. His research interests primarily revolve around gaining a better understanding of the physiology of fish and frogs within Australia’s delicate freshwater ecosystems, which are under ever-increasing threat from anthropogenic climate and land-use changes. Matthew is a current Honours student at UQ, investigating the impacts of post-fire ash and sediment runoff on the growth, development and physiological function of Australian frogs.
