Russell Thomas is an environmental scientist that has been working for industry in the Pilbara since 2000 and specifically for Rio Tinto Iron Ore since
2005.
His work has involved management of key environmental factors such as aquatic ecology and riparian vegetation in the East Pilbara, troglofauna and
aquatic ecosystems in the Robe Valley and since January 2016 has been focussed solely on the threatened species offset plan to improve the ecological
condition of the two species of national significance – the northern quoll and Pilbara olive python.
